Hurricane sweeps across Siberia, sparking massive wildfires and casualties

A number of regions in Siberia have been struck by a hurricane, which has intensified natural wildfires. The first casualties have already been reported, according to Russian media.
It is currently known that the strong winds have worsened the fires, causing flames to spread to homes. Wind gusts are reaching speeds of up to 30 meters per second. Meteorologists predict that the bad weather will last at least until tomorrow, Sunday.
In Khakassia, a state of emergency was declared due to the wildfire, as announced by the region's head, Valentin Konovalov.
"Due to strong wind gusts, the fire situation has worsened in many municipalities. About 43 fire outbreaks have been registered... The difficult fire situation remains in the villages of Kalinino and Sapogov, Novoeniseika, and the Ochursk rural district. In several municipalities, power supply has been disrupted," he said.
In addition to the fires, the wind itself is causing significant destruction. According to the latest data, four people have been injured in the region due to the strong winds.
The hurricane has also damaged roofs of houses and social infrastructure in Abakan, Chernogorsk, and the Ust-Abakan district, which Konovalov also reported.
