Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán condemned Russia's overnight combined attack on Kyiv and expressed support for the victims and the people of Ukraine.

Orbán called the nighttime strike on the capital a reminder of the human cost of the war.

"Russia’s brutal overnight attack on Kyiv is another horrifying reminder of the human cost of this war. Civilians should never wake up to missiles, drones, explosions, and fear for their lives," she said.

The Hungarian foreign minister stressed the impact of the shelling on civilians.

"Homes destroyed, families shattered, innocent people killed and injured - this is unacceptable. We strongly condemn the attack and stand by the victims and the people of Ukraine," she added.

During the night of May 24, Russian forces carried out a combined strike on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and attack drones. The attack affected all districts of the city.

As a result, two people were killed and 77 others were injured.

As a reminder, on May 13, Russia carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine’s western Zakarpattia region, where a Hungarian minority lives.

At that time, Anita Orbán summoned the Russian ambassador in Budapest and personally condemned the attack, calling strikes on Zakarpattia unacceptable for Hungary.

This marked a departure from the previous line of the Hungarian government, which had generally avoided directly condemning Russia's actions against Ukraine.

Later, talks between Kyiv and Budapest at the level of foreign ministers were resumed.
