Hungary will not support any decision in favor of Ukraine until the Druzhba pipeline resumes operation, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said ahead of the European Council meeting on March 19.
What Orbán said
"The position of Hungary is very simple. We are ready to support Ukraine when we receive our oil, which has been blocked by them," the Hungarian prime minister said.
According to him, until the Druzhba pipeline resumes operation, there will be no decisions in favor of Ukraine.
"We are waiting for oil. Everything else is just a fairy tale. Therefore, we believe only in facts. The oil must reach Hungary," Orbán added.
Until then, Hungary will not support any pro-Ukraine decision.
Earlier, Orbán had already stated that Hungary would not approve the allocation of 90 billion euros to Ukraine from the EU until oil transit through Druzhba is restored.
Zelenskyy, in a letter to EU leaders, promised to restore transit in about one and a half months.
On March 18, a group of EU experts planned to travel to the site of damage to the pipeline in Ukraine to assess the scope of work for its restoration.
However, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it had not received any information about this.
