Hungarian Foreign Minister tells Zelenskyy to 'choose his tone' over criticism of Orbán

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that Kyiv needs to "choose tone." This is how he commented on the words of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his position on Ukraine in the EU, according to Szijjártó’s post on Facebook and the media outlet 24.HU.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Zelenskyy "has to get used to the idea that every Hungarian has the right to interfere in the matter of Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU."
"Because the situation is this: Ukraine wants to join the integration of which we are members, not the other way around... So the tone in Kyiv should be chosen accordingly," Szijjártó wrote.
What precedes this
Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the majority of Hungarians support Ukraine's accession to the EU, despite Orbán's different position and his attempts to influence public opinion.
In particular, the Ukrainian leader referred to an open poll conducted by Orbán's opposition, according to which 70% of the surveyed Hungarian residents supported Ukraine's entry into the European Union.
Zelenskyy also emphasized Orbán's intention to block Ukraine’s accession to the bloc and added that the Hungarian Prime Minister’s actions are very dangerous and threaten the security of the European Union. In addition, he criticized the Hungarian Prime Minister for linking NATO issues with his own ideas about ending the war.
The Head of the Ukrainian state confirmed that Ukraine has taken the necessary steps to prepare for integration into the EU, and the country's goal is to be technically ready to open three clusters in the European Union by mid-summer. Zelenskyy noted that this step is supported by everyone except Hungary.
