Ukraine weakened Russia's strategy of attacking data infrastructure and cyberspace because it has significant advantages in these areas, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his interview with The Sun.
The Ukrainian leader noted that many people did not realize that Russian forces had been attacking Ukraine's data infrastructure and cyberspace for quite some time.
However, Kyiv did not lose its footing and found an effective way to weaken the enemy's strategy. As is known, Ukraine began responding to Russian strikes on data centers.
"We have the difference [with Russia – ed.]. We [Ukraine – ed.] are more technological. That's why, when they [Russians – ed.] attacked our data, they did it so many times, but we had connection, we had mobile connection, we had Internet, etc. Because we are very decentralized, from the point of digital. For Russia, it's more painful, because they are not so decentralized," Zelenskyy explained.
The president pointed out that Russia follows a different strategy.
Essentially, Russia has many air defense systems and simply protects what it has.
"We don't have too much air defense—we have a deficit with it. That's why we decentralized everything, not only data. But we always try to respond, and only after the same or similar attacks on us," Zelenskyy concluded.
Recently, American analysts explained why Russia is really targeting Ukrainian data centers.
As also reported, Ukraine has strengthened protections for data centers and facilities critical to communications.
