The Armed Forces of Ukraine are successfully conducting deep-strike operations under the codename DeepStrike, which significantly weaken Russia’s military and economic potential, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi during a meeting with journalists.

According to Syrskyi, the effectiveness of these actions exceeds the cost of strikes by a factor of 15.

He also recalled that during negotiations, the enemy requested that strikes not be carried out against their oil refining industry, which indicates the effectiveness of Ukrainian attacks.

"Of course, we will continue (strikes on Russian territory as part of DeepStrike). We will expand both the scale and depth. Taking into account that we are not fighting the population – we are targeting and destroying exclusively military facilities," he said.

Scope of DeepStrike

Between January and May 2025, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of operations under the DeepStrike initiative, aimed at undermining key sectors of Russia’s economy. The total damage caused to the enemy’s industrial complex is estimated at over 10 billion US dollars.

Of that, direct losses exceed 1.3 billion dollars and include:

  • Oil refining industry

  • Fuel and lubricant infrastructure

  • Energy supply systems

  • Strategic communications

  • Transport chains

Indirect losses, estimated at more than 9.5 billion dollars, are attributed to disruptions in refinery operations, blocked logistics, halted production, and interrupted transportation of goods.

As a result, the cost-to-effectiveness ratio of DeepStrike operations is assessed at approximately 1:15, which proves the efficiency of this tool in weakening both Russia’s economic and military capabilities.

As a reminder, last year Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated that under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Resilience Plan, over 30,000 DeepStrike combat drones would be delivered to Ukrainian defenders in 2025.

RBC-Ukraine also reported that Ukraine has increased mass production of missiles for the Neptune system, and the Palianytsia drone missile has entered serial production.
