How Ukraine can counter new Russian bombs: Air Force
Ukraine can counteract the new Russian UMPB D-30 munitions. The most effective method would be to destroy the carrier of the bomb, such as an aircraft or a launching installation, according to the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Illia Yevlash.
"Resistance against these bombs exists. However, it's essential to work with the carrier. That would be most effective in this situation," the spokesperson said.
He noted that the Russians launch guided munitions from Su-class aircraft. According to the spokesperson, after recent numerous Su crashes, the enemy is afraid to approach closer, but the threat remains.
"To effectively counter such threats, we need to deploy more Western-style air defense systems. Unfortunately, we cannot produce them on our territory yet," Yevlash stated.
Strike on Kharkiv with guided bombs
Recall that on March 27, the Russian army struck Kharkiv for the first time using a large-caliber guided munition. It's about the UMPB D-30 CN bomb, which is based on the FAB-250.
As a result of the attack, 14 multi-story buildings and a school were damaged. There is information about casualties and at least 18 wounded, including a child.
Oleg Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, reported that the new Russian guided munitions can reach any area of Kharkiv. In his opinion, these projectiles can be intercepted, but it's a matter for the military.
