How to effectively lose weight from stubborn areas: Expert advice
Losing excess weight from specific areas of the body can be challenging, especially in certain "problem areas." Many people look for ways to achieve their desired results. Ukrainian nutritionist Olesya Dobrianska shares some effective tips for targeting weight loss in specific areas.
How to lose weight in specific areas
Creating a calorie deficit is crucial for losing weight in areas like the legs, arms, abdomen, and even cheeks.
The expert noted that targeting specific body parts for localized fat loss through exercises is a waste of time.
Fat is stored in fat cells as triglycerides. The body breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol, a process called lipolysis, to use them.
Fat cells and glycerol exit the fat tissue into the bloodstream and "travel" to places where they are needed. The signal to initiate lipolysis and burn fat is given by hormones released into the bloodstream and traveling throughout the body.
What burns fat
In the cell, the hormone interacts with the cell receptor like a key and gives the command to break down fat. Different hormones, such as adrenaline, glucagon, somatotropin, and cortisol, are involved in this process and are responsible for burning fat.
It's important to understand that targeting these hormones in a specific area, like the abdomen, is impossible. They will interact and give commands to all fat cells in the body.
Hormones with lipolytic properties move throughout the body, causing fat to be lost unevenly in different areas. This depends on hormone-sensitive areas (chest, abdomen, thighs, buttocks), tissue blood supply, capillarization, and cell receptor activity (sensitivity, resistance).
Fat tissue evolutionarily designed to store fat, such as thighs, abdomen, and buttocks, will store it more actively and lose it more slowly.
