Russia has used over 28,000 Shahed kamikaze drones since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This would not have been possible without the support of the Iranian regime, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to the Dutch parliament.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has used 28,743 Shahed drones," the head of the Ukrainian state said.

He clarified that in June alone, the Russians had already launched 2,736 Shaheds.

Zelenskyy noted that Russia would never have been able to carry out such attacks without its ties to the Iranian regime, and that Ukraine would not have been able to shoot down the drones without the solidarity and support of its partners. He added that this fact spoke for itself.

Shahed drone attacks

In recent months, attacks by Shahed drones on peaceful Ukrainian cities have become increasingly large-scale.

In particular, Russian forces have launched over 400 kamikaze drones across Ukraine in a single day.

One of the main targets of such attacks is Kyiv. For example, on the night of June 23, the Russian army struck the Ukrainian capital with both missiles and drones. As a result of the attack, a five-story residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district was partially destroyed.

That night alone, Russia launched around 350 Shahed drones across Ukraine.
