Iced coffee becomes especially popular in summer, but is it really healthier than classic hot coffee? The answer may surprise those who rely only on how it feels, according to Health.

Which drink gives more energy

Hot coffee and iced coffee can contain different levels of caffeine. This depends on many factors, including the type of beans, grind size, brewing time, and preparation method.

Iced coffee is usually brewed hot and then cooled with ice so that it may contain slightly less caffeine due to dilution.

While caffeine certainly affects energy levels, temperature can also play a role in how energizing the drink feels. Iced coffee may feel more refreshing, while hot coffee in the morning can create a stronger sense of alertness.

Creamers and flavorings high in added sugar can quickly raise blood sugar levels but may lead to a rapid crash afterward.

Where there are more antioxidants

Coffee is well known as a rich source of antioxidants, such as polyphenols (e.g., quercetin) and flavonoids, which may help reduce inflammation and provide neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and immune health benefits.

Hot brewing can extract slightly more antioxidants from coffee grounds than cold brewing, including compounds such as chlorogenic acids.

What’s better for the stomach

Coffee is naturally acidic, which can cause discomfort for people with acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Symptoms in response to coffee vary greatly between individuals. Iced coffee is generally considered milder and easier on the stomach.

How to choose the right coffee for yourself

Hot coffee may contain slightly higher levels of antioxidants, while iced coffee is often perceived as smoother and less acidic.

Hot drinks can feel more comforting and may support digestion, while cold ones are more refreshing and hydrating, especially in summer.
