The Cherkasy region came under attack from Russian Shahed drones during the night of July 16. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy 14 drones, but debris from the downed UAVs caused fires and destruction, according to Ihor Taburets, Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

"This night in the Cherkasy region passed with air raids. Our air defense forces engaged enemy targets. A total of 14 Russian UAVs were destroyed over our territory," Taburets stated.

According to him, no casualties or injuries were reported. However, shockwaves and drone debris caused damage in several villages in the Uman district. About a dozen private homes, power lines, and property belonging to a local farming enterprise were affected.

Additionally, minor fires broke out in wheat fields but were quickly extinguished by emergency services.

In the Zvenyhorodka district, falling debris ignited reeds, but the fire was also brought under control. Authorities continue to inspect the affected areas, the Regional Military Administration added.
