Homes and cars damaged in Odesa, casualties reported after Russian strike

Russian forces attacked Odesa and the surrounding area with drones overnight on June 27–28. The strike damaged civilian infrastructure, and casualties have been reported, according to the channel of Odesa Regional Administration head Oleh Kiper.
"Russia attacked Odesa and the surrounding area with strike drones. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, including residential buildings and vehicles," the statement said.
The head of the regional administration added that information on casualties is being clarified and that emergency response efforts are underway at the scene.
At 01:02 AM Kyiv time, Kiper reported that at least three people were injured in Odesa as a result of the Russian attack.
At 01:25 AM Kyiv time, Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov shared the first photos of the aftermath of the Russian strike on the city.
"Residential infrastructure has been damaged. Emergency and utility services are working to eliminate the consequences," the mayor wrote.
He also confirmed that there are injured people who are currently receiving medical assistance. In addition, psychological support is being provided at the scene.

Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov reported that a married couple was killed in the city.
"Rescuers have just found the bodies of a couple killed after a Russian drone struck their apartment. My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones," the message read.
He added that response efforts are ongoing, and a district emergency task force will begin work at the scene in the morning.
Meanwhile, Odesa Regional Administration Head Oleh Kiper confirmed the deaths and provided details on the injured.
"Two children injured in the Russian attack are currently being treated in medical facilities: a 7-year-old boy in moderate condition and a 3-year-old who suffered smoke inhalation. Doctors are providing all necessary care," the statement said.
In addition to the two children, four adults were also injured. All have been hospitalized in moderate condition.

The State Emergency Service (SES) released its first statement on the overnight strike.
"Tonight, Russia struck a 21-story residential building in Odesa. The impact caused fires on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors. People were trapped inside their apartments," the statement read.
Emergency workers reported rescuing five people, including a small child.
Russian strikes on Odesa
Russian forces continue to regularly strike Odesa using drones and, at times, various types of missiles.
For instance, on the night of June 20, Odesa was attacked by drones. The strike damaged civilian infrastructure and triggered large fires across the city.
A four-story building caught fire, along with the 18th, 19th, and 20th floors of a 23-story residential building. More than 500 people were evacuated, and several were injured.
