Homemade glazed curd bars are not only a tasty dessert but also a healthy alternative to store-bought treats. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make tender curd bars from natural cheese without unnecessary additives or preservatives, says Ukrainian food blogger Alex Mil.

Recipe for homemade glazed curd bars

Ingredients for 9 pieces:

  • 700 g full-fat quark (9%)
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g butter (82%)
  • 20 g vanilla sugar
  • 100 g blueberry or other berry puree
  • 40 g sugar
  • 8 g cornstarch
  • 200 g milk chocolate
  • 40 g vegetable oil
  • 30 g nuts

Total preparation time: 2–3 hours

Instructions:

Blend the full-fat quark, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, and melted butter with a blender until you get a smooth, lump-free paste.

Add sugar to fresh or frozen berries and blend into a puree. Add the starch, then place over heat and stir constantly until it thickens. Let it cool completely.

Using a piping bag, place half of the curd mixture into a mold, add the berry filling, and cover with the remaining curd mixture. Smooth the top and shape the bars.

If you don't have a mold, you can use plastic wrap. Freeze for 1 hour until solid.

Add vegetable oil to the chocolate and melt in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring each time.

Then mix in the chopped nuts. Skewer the curd bars and coat them with chocolate. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes, and they're ready.
