Hezbollah shells northern Israel, IDF strikes back at militant targets
Hezbollah militants have shelled northern Israel, wounding a soldier. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded with a new wave of strikes on militant targets in Lebanon, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Telegram channel.
On September 1, a shell fell in the Kfar Yuval area in northern Israel. The attack resulted in moderate injuries to an IDF reservist and a civilian.
In the evening, the military discovered around 20 shells that had landed in Israel from Lebanon. Some were intercepted, while others fell in various regions of the country. No reports of casualties have been made.
Israel’s response attacks
Over the past day, the IDF targeted Hezbollah rocket launchers in the Ayta ash Shab area in southern Lebanon, from which shells had been fired toward Western Galilee the previous day. The military released footage of these strikes:

The Israeli army also struck a Hezbollah launcher and military infrastructure in the Bint Jbeil area in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, the IDF hit Hezbollah military targets in the Beit Lif, Tayibe, and Odaisseh areas in southern Lebanon. Artillery also targeted the Kfarchouba and Chebaa regions in southern Lebanon.
Escalation in the Middle East
Since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip in October last year, Hezbollah militants have regularly shelled Israeli territory in support of the Palestinian Islamic movement, Hamas.
Attacks by the Islamists have increased following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. Iran threatened a large-scale strike on Israel but later abandoned those plans. Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced its readiness to attack Israel independently, without Tehran’s assistance or approval.
At the end of August, Hezbollah launched hundreds of rockets and drones into Israeli territory. Before the assault, a hundred Israeli fighter jets partially mitigated the impact of these attacks.
The United States has warned of the risk of a new regional war in the Middle East.
On August 28, the IDF struck a series of Hezbollah military infrastructure targets in the Ain El Tineh area in Lebanon.
