The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are carrying out strikes on Hezbollah targets as the group prepares to fire rockets and shells from Lebanon into Israeli territory, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets are striking targets of the terrorist organization Hezbollah which poses an immediate threat to Israeli citizens.

Following these strikes, recommendations for public safety in specific areas of Israel will be issued based on the assessment conducted by the Israel Defense Forces.

The IDF spokesperson, RDML Daniel Hagar stated that "a short while ago, the IDF identified the Hezbollah terrorist organization preparing to fire missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory. ‌‏In a self-defense act to remove these threats, the IDF is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians."

He added that this action came after terrorists launched over 6,700 rockets, shells, and explosive drones at Israeli families, homes, and communities since October 8, 2023.

Hagar further warned that Hezbollah might continue its rocket attacks on Israeli territory, possibly including rockets and drones.

"From right next to the homes of Lebanese civilians in the South of Lebanon, we can see that Hezbollah is preparing to launch an extensive attack on Israel, while endangering the Lebanese civilians. We warn the civilians located in the areas where Hezbollah is operating, to move out of harm's way immediately for their own safety," stated the IDF spokesman.

He also emphasized that Israel will not tolerate attacks on its civilian population.

Escalation in the Middle East

Following the elimination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31 by Israeli intelligence and senior Hezbollah military commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut, the likelihood of a large-scale war in the Middle East has significantly increased.

Iran and Islamist groups it supports, including Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Yemen Houthis, have announced plans for a retaliatory strike against Israel.

Almost immediately, daily airstrikes began between Israel and Hezbollah militants.

Notably, on the night of August 20, the Israeli army struck Hezbollah warehouses in the Bekaa Valley, killing a terrorist from Hezbollah's rocket unit during the attack.

In recent days, Israeli forces have also targeted Hezbollah sites in the areas of Maroun al-Ras and Aita al-Shaab areas in southern Lebanon.
