Heavy drone and missile attack on Ukraine overnight: Air defense responds

On the night of July 6, Russia launched a large-scale aerial attack on Ukraine, deploying 157 drones and four S-300 surface-to-air missiles from the Kursk region, reports the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russia fired drones, both strike UAVs and decoy drones, from five directions: Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Hvardiiske, and Chauda in Crimea.
Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 117 drones across the north, east, south, and central regions of the country. Of these, 98 were shot down, while 19 were suppressed or lost due to electronic warfare (EW).
Strikes were recorded at 19 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in two additional areas.
The Air Force noted that the attack is ongoing, with new groups of Shahed drones entering from the northern direction.
Drone strikes on Ukraine
In the Kyiv region, three people were injured in last night’s Russian drone attack. Both apartment buildings and private homes sustained damage.
Kharkiv was attacked multiple times by drones. According to local authorities, two people were injured, and an infant experienced a stress reaction.
Zaporizhzhia was also targeted. There is confirmed damage and destruction in the city.
