Heavy battles erupt near Dnipropetrovsk region: Are Russian forces advancing?

Russia has not established a foothold in Dnipropetrovsk region that would indicate a permanent military presence. However, a high number of battles are being recorded in this direction, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, during a national news telethon.
According to him, Russian forces aim to demonstrate their military presence in Dnipropetrovsk region, but this has not materialized.
"They wanted to announce this as early as May 9, to coincide with the ‘holiday.’ But they didn’t succeed then, and they’re still not succeeding. They’re fighting very actively to push the front line to the administrative border just to show that they’ve reached it and that their political goal has been achieved," the spokesperson said.
According to Trehubov, from a political standpoint, advancing toward Dnipropetrovsk region holds significant importance for the Russians.
At the same time, the spokesperson noted that an abnormally high number of battles is being recorded in the Novopavlivka direction due to Russian attempts to push forward.
"As of now, Russian forces are facing active resistance, and a large number of their troops are being eliminated, but even the number of combat engagements in the Novopavlivka direction is abnormally high," he added.
