The campaign team of US Vice President Kamala Harris refused to hold a debate on the terms of presidential candidate Donald Trump, reports Reuters.

According to Trump's idea, the debate should have taken place on September 4 on the Fox News channel, which is close to him, with a full arena audience. He put forward these conditions after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race and proposed Harris's candidacy instead.

The vice president's campaign headquarters said that they had not agreed on anything like this with either Trump or Fox News. Harris is demanding that the debate take place as scheduled on September 10 on ABC.

Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris campaign, said that the vice president will come to this platform regardless of whether Trump shows up or not. She will be there anyway to "take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience."

At the same time, an ABC News spokesperson could not confirm any details about whether Harris would be able to speak alone if Trump does not join.

According to Michael Tyler, Trump is scared and is trying to back out of the debate.

"Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out," he said.

Harris's campaign also noted that they are happy to discuss further debates after the ones that both campaigns have already agreed to (we are talking about the debate on June 27 on CNN and the upcoming one on September 10 on ABC).

Support for Harris

According to a Bloomberg and Morning Consult poll, Harris is ahead of Trump in four of the seven states that are likely to decide the outcome of the presidential election.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Kamala Harris was elected the official candidate for the US presidency from the Democratic Party. She was voted for by 3923 Democrats out of about 4000 delegates who took part in the voting.
