Harris and Trump nearly cross paths in North Carolina ahead of election
US presidential candidate Kamala Harris was met with an unusual sight upon her arrival in North Carolina on Saturday. Parked at the airport was the red, white, and blue plane of her opponent, Donald Trump, reports Reuters.
As Harris descended from Air Force Two at Charlotte airport, Trump’s personal Boeing 757 was parked nearby on the tarmac, according to the agency. It was unclear if the Republican was on board.
This close encounter underscored how both candidates have focused their efforts on a handful of key states ahead of the election, where victory or defeat could be decided.
It marked the fourth consecutive day the candidates campaigned in the same state. Reuters highlighted that only seven states, including North Carolina, remain genuinely competitive.
Harris arrived for a rally in Charlotte, the largest city in the state, while Trump had campaigned earlier that day in the nearby suburb of Gastonia.
Axios reported that, with only three days left until the election, both Trump and Harris stuck to their usual talking points in their speeches.
The Republican candidate reiterated that, if elected, he would deport millions of immigrants. He also warned that if Harris won, every city in America will turn into a dirty and dangerous refugee camp.
At a campaign event in Atlanta, Harris stated that Trump would abuse his power if he returned to the White House.
“This is someone who is increasingly unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed with grievance, and the man is out for unchecked power,” Harris said.
The US presidential election is set for this Tuesday, November 5, and the outcome remains uncertain. Recently, Reuters reported that Harris has nearly lost her lead over Trump, with their support levels now separated by just 1%.
Earlier, it was reported that Donald Trump might declare himself the winner of the presidential race prematurely. Democrats are preparing a swift response should that occur.
