Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has repeatedly expressed her love for this healthy vegetable, which is also widely available in Ukraine. We're talking about celery.

Why is celery so beneficial, and why should you include it in your diet? Read more in the RBC-Ukraine article.

Why is celery so popular?

Recently, the popularity of green stalks has significantly increased, especially thanks to celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Miranda Kerr, who regularly drink celery juice and share their habit on Instagram.

Minimal calories – maximum benefits for your figure

One of celery’s main advantages is its extremely low calorie content. It consists of about 95% water, and 100 grams of the product contain only about 16 kilocalories. This makes celery an ideal choice for those who are monitoring their weight or trying to lose weight. It helps curb hunger and the desire to "crunch on something" without the risk of consuming extra calories. Celery stalks are a great healthy alternative to chips or crackers.

Fiber for digestion and satiety

Celery is an excellent source of dietary fiber. Fiber plays a key role in maintaining digestive health: it supports normal bowel peristalsis, helps prevent constipation, and maintains healthy gut flora. Additionally, fiber helps you feel full for longer after meals, which is important for appetite and weight control.

Helps control blood sugar levels

Due to its low glycemic index and high fiber content, celery does not cause sharp spikes in blood sugar levels after consumption. The fiber slows down the absorption of sugars into the bloodstream. This is especially beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes or those at risk (with insulin resistance). Some studies also suggest that celery contains compounds, such as apigenin and other antioxidants, that may positively affect insulin sensitivity and overall glycemic control, although these properties require further research.
