Greta Thunberg sailing to Gaza with star-studded humanitarian flotilla

Greta Thunberg's humanitarian flotilla has set sail from Barcelona, Spain, en route to the Gaza Strip. This marks the activist's second attempt to break the maritime blockade of the Palestinian enclave, CBS News reports.
Onboard the ships are Thunberg, actress Susan Sarandon, Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, former Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau, and other prominent figures. The mission has also attracted extensive media coverage.
The sea convoy consists of 20 vessels carrying representatives from 44 countries. The goal of Thunberg's Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission is to deliver aid, food, water, and medicine to the Gaza Strip by breaking the maritime blockade.
In the coming days, the convoy will pass through ports in Italy, Greece, and Tunisia, where additional ships are expected to join. Afterward, the flotilla will head toward the Gaza coast.
"The story here is about Palestine. The story here is how people are being deliberately deprived of the very basic means to survive," Thunberg said during a press conference in Barcelona.
Second attempt
This is Thunberg's second attempt to reach the Gaza Strip. On June 1, she and a group of 11 pro-Palestinian activists set out on the sailing vessel Madleen toward the Gaza coast. Their mission aimed to break the blockade and draw global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the region.
On June 9, the Israeli Defense Forces stopped the Madleen and detained all passengers. Later, all 12 activists, including Thunberg, were deported from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Thunberg returned to Sweden via Paris and criticized the Israeli government and US President Donald Trump, who had called her an "angry person."
On August 11, Thunberg announced a new mission to break Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. This time, the operation will involve dozens of ships and a larger group of participants from multiple countries.
