Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced a new mission to break Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, involving dozens of vessels, according to the activist’s Instagram page.

"On August 31st, we are launching the biggest attempt ever to break the illegal Israeli siege over Gaza with dozens of boats sailing from Spain," Thunberg wrote.

She added that on September 4, dozens more vessels from Tunisia and other ports will join the main flotilla.

According to her, participants also plan to mobilize over 44 countries to hold simultaneous demonstrations and actions to "break the silent consent and show solidarity with the people of Palestine."

High-profile Thunberg mission

On June 1, Greta Thunberg and a group of 11 pro-Palestinian activists set sail aboard the Madleen toward the coast of the Gaza Strip.

The action aimed to break the blockade and draw global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The group also included French MEP Rima Hassan.

On June 9, Israeli Defense Forces intercepted the Madleen and detained all its passengers.

All 12 activists, including Thunberg, were later deported from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The activist returned to Sweden via Paris.

Thunberg later criticized the Israeli government and US President Donald Trump, who had called her an "angry person."
