Germany warns of possible escalation in attacks on Ukraine amid independence day
Russia may intensify shelling of Ukraine as the country celebrates Independence Day on August 24, according to the German Foreign Ministry.
"On Independence Day, August 24, 2024, there may be an increase in missile and air attacks on cities, especially Kyiv," the German Foreign Ministry stated.
The website also issues a travel advisory for German citizens, urging those currently in Ukraine to leave the country immediately.
Threat of attacks on Independence Day
The US Embassy in Ukraine warned on August 22 that there is an increased risk of Russian attacks on Independence Day, affecting the entire territory of Ukraine.
The embassy also suggested that attacks could occur both at night and during the day.
According to Oleksandr Musiienko, head of the Center for Military-Legal Studies, there are signs of Russian preparations for new attacks on Ukraine on the eve of the Independence Day.
In particular, the enemy is conducting training flights. The Russian forces could also have accumulated about 100 missiles.
