Germany train derails in violent storm, leaving 3 dead and 34 injured

On July 27, a passenger train derailed in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. At least three people died, and dozens were injured, BILD informs.
Police said two carriages of a Deutsche Bahn regional express derailed. The train, carrying about 100 passengers, was traveling from Sigmaringen to Ulm.
At least 34 people were injured in addition to the three fatalities. Part of the train was overturned in the accident.
Police, fire, and rescue teams responded to the scene. Authorities are investigating the cause. Preliminary reports indicate the derailment may have been triggered by a severe thunderstorm.
Thomas Strobl, Minister of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg, said heavy rain had fallen in the area. He added that strong rain and the resulting landslide could not be ruled out as possible causes of the derailment.
Another rail disaster in Germany
In 2022, a passenger train derailed near the Holzhausen industrial park in the Alps, Germany. Several carriages overturned, with some falling onto an embankment.
Four people died, and 60 passengers were injured in that accident.
At the time, many students were on board because it occurred during school holidays.
