Germany reacts to rumors of Russian attempt to kill Rheinmetall CEO
Germany responds to rumors about an assassination attempt on Armin Papperger, CEO of arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, citing Reuters.
Yesterday, information surfaced online that US intelligence had uncovered a Russian plan to assassinate Papperger, the CEO of the company producing artillery shells and military equipment for Ukraine.
Washington promptly informed Germany, and German security services were able to protect Papperger.
"We will not allow ourselves to be intimidated by Russia and will continue to do everything we can to prevent Russian threats in Germany," said German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser.
Rheinmetall did not directly confirm these reports but stated that "necessary measures are always taken" to ensure security, following regular consultations with security agencies.
