Germany launches its own Patriot missile manufacturing to help Ukraine

Germany will support Ukraine by funding the purchase of long-range Patriot missiles in an amount estimated in the triple-digit millions, states Christian Freuding, coordinator of the aid task force for Ukraine.
According to him, Germany has launched its own production of missiles for the Patriot systems, which will be independent of the US.
“We need weapons systems capable of penetrating deep into Russian territory and striking depots, command posts, airfields, and aircraft,” Freuding emphasized.
He emphasized that the first deliveries of missiles are expected in 2026–2027. The general added that Germany is ready to provide such weapons systems.
Freuding noted that the first long-range weapon systems are scheduled to be delivered as early as the end of July, as part of an agreement with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense that Germany initiated at the end of May.
“This will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and capabilities in the coming weeks and months,” the general added.
Military aid to Ukraine
Military aid to Ukraine in 2025 will exceed 50 billion euros, as decided during the NATO summit. The funds have been allocated to support satellite communications for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Norway has pledged to fund drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a contribution of 640 million euros.
At the same time, reports emerged that Germany’s Ministry of Defense came up nearly a billion euros short in its military aid budget for Ukraine.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius had stated that the aid would amount to 9.2 billion euros, but when the official budget proposal for next year was submitted, it showed a smaller amount - 8.3 billion euros.
