German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrived in China. She stated that the peace process is one of the goals of her visit, according to Tagesschau.

“To protect our own German and European security, it is now important to support Ukraine, and it is equally important to join the peace process in the world, and that is why I am here in China today,” Baerbock said in Beijing.

The German Foreign Minister met with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. After the meeting, she said that Russian president Vladimir Putin is dragging Southeast Asia into a war against Ukraine. Baerbock was referring to the involvement of North Korean soldiers in combat operations.

The German Foreign Minister is in favor of China's participation in ending the war in Ukraine. According to her, Germany and China see this from different perspectives, but Baerbock emphasized that an honest peace process is needed more than ever before.

German politicians' visits

As previously reported, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock arrived in China. Before the trip, Germany said that one of the topics of the Minister's talks in Beijing would be Russia's war against Ukraine.

On Monday, December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. This is the second visit of the Chancellor to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the first one took place in June 2022.

In Kyiv, Scholz will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also announced the supply of 650 million euros worth of weapons to Ukraine.
