German and British Foreign Ministers to meet in Germany to discuss Ukraine
The British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, is set to meet with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, in Germany to discuss Ukraine, according to Tagesschau.
"It is expected that the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, will meet with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, in Berlin today," the report says.
Journalists have revealed that during the second German-British strategic dialogue, the foreign ministers of the two countries will discuss bolstering support for Ukraine and efforts to provide more humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
"The meeting comes just days after Russian media published intercepted online conversations between senior German military officials regarding Ukraine, which also detailed British operations in the country," Tagesschau writes.
The eavesdropping scandal in Germany began when Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan posted an audio recording of senior officers of the German Armed Forces discussing theoretical possibilities of Ukraine using German Taurus cruise missiles. In particular, the possibility of striking the Crimean Bridge with Taurus missiles was discussed in the audio recording.
Later, the German Ministry of Defense confirmed the interception of the conversation among German officers but verified the authenticity of the recording published by the Russians.
However, this leak could negatively impact the supply of the mentioned missiles to Ukraine, as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may ultimately refuse to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, as pressure mounts from Russia following the leak of the conversation among German officers.
