Georgian opposition party claims attack on its office
In Georgia, supporters of the Georgian Dream ruling party allegedly attacked the office of their opponents. The United National Movement party claims that the attack was on its central office, reports SOVA.
According to one of the leaders of the United National Movement, Levan Bezhashvili, the act of violence was committed by agents of the ruling party. But they allegedly received a well-deserved response.
“Everyone sees the deplorable state of the Georgian Dream. They realize that they are going to lose the elections and send their agents to the National Movement office,” Bezhashvili said.
According to the National Movement leaders, unidentified persons in cars arrived at the UNM office, where the election headquarters of the Unity coalition is located and tried to break in and provoke a massive fight.
Police arrived when the attackers had already fled.
UNM leader Tina Bokuchava, in turn, says that the Georgian Dream realizes that it will lose power very soon.
Elections in Georgia
Elections to the Georgian parliament are taking place today, October 26. They may become the most tense in recent years.
In particular, the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party and pro-European opposition parties are competing for the votes of Georgian voters.
In the Georgian city of Marneuli, a massive ballot stuffing was recorded at a polling station. The voting results were canceled. This is not the first case of fraud in the country.
The Georgian Dream party declared victory in the elections before the voting was over.
