General Staff confirms damage to Russian Black Sea Fleet ships in Novorossiysk

Two Russian Black Sea Fleet warships were confirmed damaged in Novorossiysk following strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces on Russian forces on March 2, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is reported that following additional analysis of the impact of strikes on the Novorossiysk naval base in Russia’s Krasnodar region, damage to two Russian ships — the frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov — has been confirmed.
Efforts are ongoing to determine the extent of the damage to the Russian frigates. Analysts are also examining possible damage to other military ships and auxiliary vessels of the Russian fleet.
"Systematic strikes on the enemy’s military infrastructure and defense industry facilities will continue until the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine ceases completely," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added.
Attack on the port of Novorossiysk on March 2: Details
On the night of March 2, Ukrainian drones carried out a massive strike on the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Sources in intelligence agencies confirmed that a joint operation by the SBU and Ukraine’s Defense Forces hit the naval minesweeper, Valentin Pikul.
The frigate Admiral Essen suffered critical damage during the attack and can no longer launch Kalibr missiles. The status of the frigate Admiral Makarov remains under review. In addition, the strike may have seriously damaged the anti-submarine ships Yeysk and Kasimov.
