General Staff: 123 Russian attacks took place at front, one third - in Kurakhove sector

Today, September 20, there were 123 attacks by Russian forces on the front. The enemy is most active in the Kurakhove direction, accounting for a third of all attacks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
According to the General Staff, border areas in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling.
Specifically, Mykolaivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Riasne, Porozok, Luhivka, Pokrovka, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Brusky, and Lemishchyno were hit by artillery fire. The enemy also targeted Luhivka twice with multiple rocket launchers.
Situation in the directions
Kharkiv direction: Russian forces are assaulting our units near Vovchansk, with two combat engagements ongoing.
Kupiansk direction: The enemy attacked our positions seven times. Ukrainian defenders repelled assaults near Stepova, Novoselivka, Synkivka, and Lozova, with five combat engagements still in progress.
Lyman direction: Enemy units continue to attack in the areas of Cherneshchyna, Hrekivka, Druzhelyubivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Terny, and Zarichne. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian forces have repelled eight enemy attacks, with three combat engagements still ongoing. The situation is under control.
Siversk direction: Our defenders successfully repelled an enemy attack near Vyimka.
Kramatorsk direction: With support from assault aviation, the invaders launched three assaults near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora.
Toretsk direction: The enemy conducted six attacks today near Dachne, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Our defenders are giving a strong response, with three attacks already repelled and three combat engagements ongoing. The aggressor's aviation bombed the settlements of Toretsk and Kleban-Byk.
Pokrovsk direction: Since the start of the day, Russia has made 21 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in Vozdvizhenska, Novotoretsk, Myrolyubivka, Hrodivka, Chervone, Selydove, and Novohrodivka. Defense forces repelled 16 enemy attacks, with five combat engagements still ongoing.
Kurakhove direction: The highest number of engagements occurred here, with the invaders attacking our units 40 times. Russian forces attempted to advance near Tsukuryne, Zhelane Pershe, Heorhiivka, Dalniy, Oleksandrivka, Katerynivka, and Kostiantynivka, with 10 assaults ongoing.
Vremivka direction: The Russian army unsuccessfully attacked Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Bohoyavlenka eight times.
Orikhiv direction: The settlement of Piatykhatky was hit by unguided aerial missiles. Additionally, enemy units unsuccessfully attempted to advance toward Mala Tokmachka, Lobkove, and Novodanylivka.
"The operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces continues in the Kursk region. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has conducted 21 airstrikes, dropping 27 guided bombs on Russian territory," the General Staff added.
Situation on the frontline and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, there were 226 combat engagements on the frontline on September 19, with the highest activity in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost nearly 640,000 personnel. Over the past day, the Defense Forces eliminated another 1,340 soldiers.
Additionally, 20 tanks, 39 armored vehicles, 35 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment were destroyed yesterday.
