FT obtains details of Trump’s 'breakthrough' peace plan for Gaza Strip

US President Donald Trump presented Arab leaders with a new peace plan for the Gaza Strip. It, in particular, envisions a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, according to the Financial Times.
According to the outlet, the 21-point plan, in addition to the ceasefire, also envisions the full release of hostages and the deployment of an international stabilization force in the territory currently held by Israel.
Sources cited by the Financial Times also said the plan includes details on who will govern and ensure security in the Gaza Strip after the conflict ends. An international oversight body will supervise a Palestinian committee that will temporarily administer Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces are expected to return to the positions they held during the temporary ceasefire from January to March and then fully withdraw after the stabilization force is deployed. Hamas will not participate in governance, and Gaza residents are not expected to be forcibly relocated.
Security will be maintained by the international stabilization force, which is expected to include participation from Arab and Muslim countries.
The US aims for a permanent ceasefire and the release of all Hamas hostages — about 20 people — as a single stage. The Palestinian Authority will participate in governance, though Arab and Muslim states want to expand its role.
It is still unknown whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will accept the plan; he is scheduled to meet with Trump on Monday, September 29.
Witkoff predicts a breakthrough
Yesterday, September 24, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff stated that Washington has prepared a peace plan for the Gaza Strip.
According to Witkoff, Washington will be able to announce a breakthrough in the peace process between Israel and Hamas in the coming days.
