Russia-Ukraine war: frontline update as of July 20

According to the Ukrainian General Staff's Facebook, Russia is concentrating its main efforts on the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol directions. Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck 11 artillery units of Russian troops.
Enemy Attacks
Today, during the night, Russia carried out another missile and aviation strike on Ukraine. Information regarding the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy used 16 Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles, 8 Kh-22 cruise missiles, 6 Oniks cruise missiles, 1 Kh-59 guided aviation missile, and 32 Shahed attack drones for a massive missile and aviation strike on Ukrainian territory.
As a result of the anti-aircraft defense's combat work, 13 Kalibr cruise missiles, 1 Kh-59 guided aviation missile, and 23 Shahed attack drones were destroyed.
Additionally, the enemy conducted 78 airstrikes and carried out 69 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launch systems on our troops' positions and civilian areas. The probability of missile and aviation strikes across Ukraine remains high.
Frontline Situation
On the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable without significant changes.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy launched an aviation strike in the area of Hremyachka village in Chernihiv region. They also conducted mortar and artillery shelling on more than 20 settlements, including Hirske, Yeline, Leonivka in Chernihiv region, and Seredyna-Buda, Bachivsk, Myropillya, and Pokrovka in Sumy region, as well as Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Vovchanske, Mala Vovcha, and Budarky in Kharkiv region.
On the Kupyansk direction, our troops are holding the defense firmly. The enemy launched an aviation strike in the area of Kyslivka. Occupied settlements such as Dvorichna, Zaporizke, Synkivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Nevske, Novoliubivka, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, and Yamplia, Serebrianka, and Spirne in Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, Berestove, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk Oblast were shelled.
On the Bakhmut direction, our defenders successfully repelled attacks in the area of Bohdanivka, while the enemy launched an airstrike near Dyliivka. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Vasukivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochky, and Oleksandro-Shultine in Donetsk region.
On the Avdiivka direction, under intense enemy aviation and artillery fire, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the area of Nevelske. The enemy carried out missile and aviation strikes in the area of Avdiivka. At the same time, more than 10 settlements, including Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, Karlivka, and Nevelske in Donetsk region, were shelled.
On the Maryinka direction, despite enemy aviation strikes and artillery fire, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian troops' advancement in the areas of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka. Over 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiivka, and Pobieda in Donetsk region were shelled.
On the Shakhtar direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Novomykhailivka and Blahodatne in Donetsk Oblast. They also shelled more than 10 settlements, including Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, and Blahodatne in the Donetsk region.
On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing further advancement of our troops. They made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the area north of Pryyutne in Zaporizhzhia region.
More than 20 settlements, including Novodarivka, Olihivske, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Lobkove in Zaporizhzhia region, and Dudchany, Kozatske, Lvove, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Berehove, Kizomys in Kherson region, and the city of Kherson were shelled.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidating on the achieved lines, and implementing counter-battery measures.
Enemy Losses
The defense aviation carried out 7 strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas over the past 24 hours. Our defenders also destroyed 2 operational-tactical reconnaissance drones.
Rocket and artillery units struck 4 areas of enemy personnel, armament, and military equipment concentration, as well as ammunition depots, destroying 11 artillery units in firing positions, 2 anti-aircraft defense systems, and an enemy electronic warfare station.
During the night of July 20, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine, using missiles and kamikaze drones. Explosions were reported in Mykolaiv, Odesa, and their respective regions, as well as in Sumy.
