Frontline situation as of July 17: General Staff report

In a recent escalation, Russia has focused its main efforts on the directions of Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have retaliated with 15 strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas, as reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Facebook.
Enemy attacks intensify
During the night, Russia launched yet another missile and aerial attack on Ukraine. The extent of the damage caused by this terrorist attack is still being assessed.
Over the past 24 hours, Russia has launched 11 missile and 49 aerial strikes, along with 48 barrages from multiple launch rocket systems, targeting Ukrainian troop positions and civilian areas.
As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, civilians were injured, with damages reported to residential buildings, commercial establishments, administrative buildings, and private vehicles.
High risk of Russian attacks across Ukraine
The likelihood of missile and aerial attacks on Ukraine's entire territory remains dangerously high.
Frontline situation
On the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation.
On the Siverskyi and Sloboda directions, the enemy launched an aerial attack on the settlement of Shpyliv in the Sumy region. Additionally, over 20 villages, including Seredyna-Buda, Kozache, Stepne, Popivka, Grabivske in the Sumy Oblast, and Basove, Vysoka Yaruga, Ternova, Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, experienced mortar and artillery shelling.
On the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian forces successfully defended their positions against the enemy's failed offensive actions south of Masyutivka in the Kharkiv region. The enemy also carried out an aerial strike near Kyslivka, while artillery and mortar attacks were reported in Kamianka, Novomykhailivka, Dvorichna, Kupyansk, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region.
On the Lyman direction, the adversary's attempted offensives east of Vesele in the Donetsk region were met with resistance. Aerial attacks targeted Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Siverska in the Donetsk region. The villages of Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery shelling.
On the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all enemy attacks in the areas of Orikhove-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, and Ivanivske. The enemy also made unsuccessful attempts to reclaim their lost position northwest of Kurdiumivka.
Aerial strikes targeted the areas of Pivnichne and New York in the Donetsk region, resulting in damage to more than ten villages, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and Druzhba in the Donetsk region.
On the Avdiivka direction, the enemy launched an aerial attack on the city of Avdiivka. Additionally, artillery shelling affected over ten villages, including Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
On the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold their ground against Russian forces in the area of Marinka. The enemy carried out shelling on more than ten villages, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, and Heorhiivka in the Donetsk region.
On the Shakhtrask direction, in the northern part of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region, the enemy's attempts to regain lost ground were unsuccessful. They launched aerial strikes in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Vremivka, Blahodatne, and Makarivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy shelled villages of Paraskevivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Zolota Niva, Velyka Novosilka, and Blahodatne.
On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the adversary is concentrating its main efforts to prevent further advancement of our troops. They carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Novodarivka, Malaya Tokmachka, and Stepove, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
They conducted artillery shelling on more than 15 villages, including Malynivka, Huliaipole, Charyvne, Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Dudchany, Kozatske, Lvove, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Berehove, Kizomys, Rozlyv, Kherson region, and the city of Kherson.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and implementing counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses:
The Ukrainian defense aviation launched 15 strikes on areas with a concentration of personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, including one on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile complex.
Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit the area of manpower concentration, 20 artillery pieces at firing positions, 2 air defense systems and 2 occupiers' electronic warfare stations.
Last night, on July 17, explosions occurred on the Crimean bridge. Two people were reported dead, and there are long queues on the approaches to the bridge.
