The meeting of foreign ministers of European Union countries in Kyiv aims to demonstrate the relentless support of the Alliance to Ukraine in the face of Russia, stated French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna.

Colonna, the head of French diplomacy, visited the Ukrainian capital to participate in the Council of EU Foreign Ministers.

She noted that this informal meeting in Kyiv aims to show that Ukraine is part of the European family and to send a message to Russia that the Kremlin should not count on the "fatigue" of the European Union.

"We will be here for a long time," promised the minister.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Hanke Bruins Slot, emphasized the need to show "our solidarity with Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, and the brave soldiers who fight daily for freedom, for our freedom.

EU Council in Kyiv

The Council of EU Foreign Ministers' meeting starts in Ukraine's capital on October 2. This meeting is the first in history when officials - representatives of the ministries of all 27 member states - hold an event outside the EU.

It is expected that the main topics on the agenda of the meeting on October 2 will be Ukraine's integration into the European Union, demonstrating support for our country, issues of military assistance from Western countries, and strengthening sanctions against Russia.

As the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, noted in Kyiv, the informal meeting will discuss the Ukrainian peace formula presented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, expressed the opinion in Kyiv that the EU is approaching a "critical moment" after political shifts in the United States and Slovakia have jeopardized the support for Ukraine from the European Union and NATO in the face of Russian aggression.
