France to gather chiefs of staff from countries ready to send troops to Ukraine

France has planned a meeting of chiefs of staff from countries that may assist Ukraine. The meeting is set to take place next week, said French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Le Monde.
Macron suggested that peace in Ukraine would likely require the deployment of European troops in the country - not to fight on the front lines but rather to ensure full compliance with a peace agreement once it is signed.
He stated that next week he will gather in Paris the chiefs of staff from countries willing to take responsibility in this matter.
European contingent in Ukraine
European countries are currently discussing the possible deployment of their forces to Ukraine. This would only happen after Ukraine and Russia sign a peace agreement.
The contingent is expected to help deter Russia from launching another attack on Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs at least 100,000 foreign troops to deter Russia, and Ukrainian military officials have already mapped out a plan for this.
However, according to the Western media, European countries are currently prepared to send up to 30,000 troops to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to oppose the idea, as it would mean NATO forces being stationed near its border.
