France completes training of Ukrainian brigade Anne of Kyiv
French Task Force Champagne has successfully completed the training of the Ukrainian brigade Anne of Kyiv, which is preparing to return to Ukraine to continue its fight against Russian forces, citing ABC News.
The mission takes place against the backdrop of escalating tensions in Ukraine, where the war has raged for nearly three years, with adversary forces growing stronger.
According to assessments from Ukrainian, American, and South Korean intelligence, Russian forces are being reinforced by 12,000 North Korean soldiers stationed in the Kursk region, raising concerns among Ukrainian officials.
Over 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers, who underwent intensive two-month training on military grounds in eastern and southern France, are now completing their final tests.
French Armed Forces representatives stated that most of these soldiers were recently mobilized and had only undergone a few weeks of basic training prior. The Ukrainian brigade, consisting of infantry battalions, artillery units, and combat engineers, is expected to become a formidable fighting force, according to military experts.
France has also equipped the Ukrainian brigade with heavy weaponry: 18 AMX-10 light tanks, 18 Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, 128 armored personnel carriers, and additional missile systems. French soldiers from Task Force Champagne trained their Ukrainian counterparts in coordinated operations, as well as maintenance and use of the equipment.
Ahead of their return to the front lines, Ukrainian troops conducted exercises simulating trench defense and assault scenarios similar to those encountered on the battlefield.
France’s support for Ukraine
France continues to be one of Ukraine's key allies. Paris has provided substantial military aid, including artillery systems, armored vehicles, ammunition, missiles, air defense systems, and other weaponry.
Beyond military assistance, France actively supports Ukraine on the political stage, advocating for the country's further integration into the European Union and NATO.
French President Emmanuel Macron has been a driving force behind the deployment of military instructors to train Ukrainian forces.
