France and Britain greenlight Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow missiles against Russia: Le Figaro
France and Britain have allowed Ukraine to strike deep within Russian territory using their SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles. This decision was made following approval from the United States, informs Le Figaro.
Following the approval from US President Joe Biden’s administration for long-range strikes on the Russian Federation, France and Britain have also authorized the use of their weapons by Ukraine.
As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can now carry out strikes deep within Russian territory using not only ATACMS but also SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles.
US approval for long-range strikes
Earlier today, Western media reported that the Biden administration has decided to allow Ukraine to use American-provided weapons for strikes on Russian territory.
For months, Ukraine had been requesting permission from the US to carry out strikes on Russian military targets deep within Russian territory. Previously, the US had maintained a cautious stance on the matter.
However, just two months before Donald Trump's inauguration, President Biden made the decision to support Ukraine's request.
It is worth noting that this week, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held a conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which the issue of permission for long-range strikes was discussed. Following the meeting, Sybiha mentioned that there is "cautious optimism" regarding this decision.
RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukraine may strike Russian targets with ATACMS missiles in the coming days.
