Former Ukrainian defense chief becomes adviser to Italy's defense minister

Mykhailo Fedorov will help Italy develop modern warfare technologies. The cooperation is expected to lead to new European-level projects in digitalization and defense technology, according to a statement by former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on Telegram.
Former Defense Minister Fedorov becomes adviser to Crosetto
According to Fedorov, he and his team have begun an international tour focused on developing new projects.
"The first meeting was with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. I thanked Guido for his personal support and for offering me the role of his adviser on defense innovation. I am grateful for the trust and strategic partnership," the former minister said.
Fedorov noted that he will help Italy:
- Develop modern warfare technologies,
- Improve its defense sector,
- Adapt to new global security challenges.
As for the prospects, the former minister said he is ready to share Ukraine's unique experience in technology-driven warfare with its partners.
However, Fedorov said his main focus will remain projects in Ukraine that strengthen the country's defense and help attract international resources.
During the meeting, the sides discussed:
- Drones,
- Autonomous systems,
- Air defense,
- Development of the defense tech ecosystem.
"The future of defense belongs to countries that can rapidly test and scale new solutions while combining technology with strong manufacturing capabilities," he said.
Fedorov added that Ukraine's experience could become the foundation of a new defense model for Europe.
It was also reported that Fedorov received four offers regarding future roles within the president's team but turned down all of them.
