Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev criticized US President Donald Trump over new sanctions, calling him an "enemy of Russia" and describing the decision as an act of war, according to Medvedev's post.
According to Medvedev, Washington's decision is an "act of war," and Trump "has completely aligned himself with the insane Europe."
The former Russian president stated that the United States is now an "enemy" of Russia, and that its "talkative 'peacemaker' has now fully embarked on the path of war with Russia."
Medvedev also once again threatened Ukraine with new strikes and rejected the idea of negotiations to end the war.
Background
The United States imposed tough sanctions on Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil, increasing pressure on the Kremlin.
According to the US authorities, the reason for the additional sanctions was Russia's lack of genuine readiness for a peaceful settlement and an end to the war in Ukraine.
The European Union also continues to strengthen economic pressure on Russia. The new 19th sanctions package is aimed at limiting Russia's energy revenues and countering its shadow fleet.
Not Medvedev's first threats
A week ago, Medvedev, in his usual rude and provocative manner, published another threat against US President Donald Trump over the possible transfer of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
At that time, he hinted at a possible nuclear response from Russia, saying that the delivery of these missiles could end badly for everyone — and above all for Trump himself.
