Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, criticized the media for spreading information that he is allegedly forming a team for the elections by inviting military personnel, according to Zaluzhnyi's post.

Today, Ukrainian media circulated a publication from the French outlet Intelligence Online, which claimed that Zaluzhnyi approached several top military officers with an offer to support him if he ran for president of Ukraine and to join a potential party list.

Zaluzhnyi criticized Ukrainian media for "instantly spreading fakes in a country at war."

"I do not recognize any ideas of holding elections during the war. Anyone who receives an offer from someone using my name to get involved in any processes through any organization should report it to law enforcement. I am not creating any headquarters or parties and fundamentally have no ties to any political force," he emphasized.

The former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current ambassador to the UK added that as long as he "has the opportunity to serve the state," he will continue to do so.

Zaluzhnyi stated that his position remains unchanged: as long as the war continues, elections in Ukraine for its state bodies are impossible.

"The enemy, having failed to win on the front line, just as 100 years ago, is now using modern tools such as anonymous sources, bots, and media to fragment our society and prepare us for elections, but to the State Duma of a country that is killing us. And by the way, they will be announced for the last time by anonymous sources. Then it will be true," he added.

Russian fake news about Ukraine's elections and Zaluzhnyi

Earlier, we reported that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service fabricated a story about secret presidential elections in Ukraine.

They claimed that a secret meeting recently took place in the Alps between representatives of the US and the UK and Ukrainian officials—Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Chief of the Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov, and Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

The Russian intelligence agency invented the claim that the US and the UK "decided to nominate Zaluzhnyi for the post of President of Ukraine."
