On Friday evening, October 31, Berlin Brandenburg Airport in Germany was temporarily closed due to the appearance of unknown drones, reports DW.

According to an airport representative, flights were suspended from 8:08 p.m. to 9:58 p.m. local time. As a result, some flights were redirected to other German cities.

To minimize the impact of delays, authorities allowed a partial lifting of the ban on night flights in Berlin.

According to police, at around 8:00 p.m., a witness reported a drone in the sky above the airport. Patrol officers later spotted it, but were unable to determine the direction of the drone's flight.

Drones in the EU

Earlier, unknown drones were spotted over the Belgian military base in Elsenborn.

On October 3, about 15 drones of unknown origin were spotted over an army training camp. The base is located just a few kilometers from the German border. Who was controlling these devices and where they came from is still unknown.

In Belgium, the defense company Thales Belgium reported the appearance of drones over its factory, where 70-millimeter rockets are manufactured.

A similar incident recently occurred in Estonia, where allies detected two aircraft, one of which was shot down with an anti-drone gun.

On the night in September when the Russians launched a massive strike on Ukraine, 19 Russian drones were spotted in Polish airspace. Most of the drones were flying from Belarus.
