Mass drone activity detected over military facility in Belgium

15 drones were spotted over the Belgian military base in Elsenborn, located near the border with Germany. The incident is already being investigated by the army, according to VRT.
The drones were spotted at around 1:45 a.m. on Friday near the village of Elsenborn, where the Belgian army's training center and air force base are located.
The facility covers an area of about 28 square kilometers and is located about 5 kilometers from the German border.
The Belgian Ministry of Defense has already confirmed the appearance of the drones.
According to the Belgian military, the drones were discovered accidentally during testing of a surveillance and drone detection system. According to preliminary information, the drones flew into Belgium across the border from Germany, where they were spotted by police in the town of Düren.
The origin of the drones and who was controlling them is still unknown. The Belgian military has launched an investigation into the incident.
Drones in EU countries
In recent weeks, NATO countries have recorded provocations by the Russian Federation. Among them is the intrusion of drones into European airspace.
On September 10, Russian drones flew into Poland.
And on the night of September 25, unknown drones were spotted over Danish airports in Aalborg, Esbjerg, and Sønderborg, as well as over the Skridstrup airbase.
Aalborg Airport suspended operations for several hours due to the appearance of drones in its airspace.
Similar incidents were also recorded over a military airbase and the Karlskrona archipelago in Sweden.
