Five NATO member countries will rebuild five military rehabilitation centers in Ukraine as part of Operation Renovator, including those damaged by Russian attacks, according to NATO's press service.

On October 7, Latvia joined Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, which are already participating in the program.

Each country will lead the reconstruction of one of the five military rehab centers. NATO will oversee project management and coordination.

Operation Renovator started in 2023 in cooperation with Ukraine, with a budget of 100 million euros. It coordinates equipment delivery, supports medical training, and infrastructure restoration.

"The project has facilitated life-saving surgery, prosthetics, and training for Ukrainian medical specialists, including doctors, psychologists and physiotherapists, in addition to delivering construction work and equipment—enhancing Ukraine’s capacity to care for its wounded military personnel, both physically and mentally," the statement reads.

Support is provided under NATO's program to supply Ukraine with non-lethal assistance and help achieve full operational compatibility with the Alliance.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government approved a resolution to improve the treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of Ukrainians released from Russian captivity.

The resolution sets clearer medical examination requirements for former prisoners, expands the network of facilities, and provides comprehensive preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitation measures.

RBC-Ukraine also reported that Lithuania plans to provide rehabilitation and psychiatric services to Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia and later returned to Ukraine.

The first children are expected to arrive this fall.
