First foreign company tests its equipment in Ukraine: Details

German defense manufacturer DIEHL has tested its ground robotic system in Ukraine. It is the first foreign company to join the Test in Ukraine initiative by Brave1, according to the Telegram post of Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
"Recently, we launched Test in Ukraine and opened the opportunity for global manufacturers to test their developments in combat conditions. Ukraine’s unique experience helps create effective solutions that can change the situation on the battlefield. And international companies are already testing their potential at our training grounds," Fedorov said.
According to him, the German company DIEHL, known for its IRIS-T air defense systems, tested its ground robotic complex within the Test in Ukraine platform by Brave1.
The first trial within the platform took place at the training center of the 3rd Assault Brigade.
During testing, the DIEHL team was able to evaluate their technology in conditions close to combat. The company received feedback from military personnel who systematically work with the robotic complex, as well as clear recommendations for adapting the system to frontline requirements.
"We are scaling Ukraine’s experience through Test in Ukraine to a global level and helping global companies create effective solutions for modern technological warfare," the minister noted.
DIEHL Defense is a German weapons manufacturer. The company primarily produces missiles and ammunition. In 2022, with the support of the German government, DIEHL supplied its IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine’s armed forces.
Also, in May 2025, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a contract worth 2.2 billion euros with the German company DIEHL for the production of IRIS-T systems and their missiles.
Test in Ukraine
Recently, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, presented the Test in Ukraine platform based on the Brave1 cluster.
The Test in Ukraine platform allows foreign manufacturers of drones, ground robots, electronic warfare systems, and AI-based solutions to officially test their products in Ukraine.
Companies can participate personally in the trials to make immediate adjustments or, alternatively, hand over their products to Brave1 for the cluster team to conduct the testing independently.
Fedorov emphasized that Ukraine has already built the infrastructure to rapidly advance defense technologies. Moreover, the country is ready to assist partner nations’ companies in "developing, testing, and improving technologies that operate on the battlefield."
Foreign companies will have the opportunity to test their technologies at a training ground designed to simulate combat conditions. Testing will be conducted alongside units with real combat experience.
"This provides direct access to feedback from the military, enabling rapid product improvements and adaptation to the real challenges of war," the Ministry of Digital Transformation stated.
