First batch of Czech ammunition reaches Ukraine’s front line - Prime Minister
Part of the ammunition that Ukraine has begun receiving under the Czech initiative is already on the front lines, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a press conference with his Czech counterpart, Petr Fiala.
According to Shmyhal, during his visit to Czechia, an important point was the Czech initiative to supply ammunition to the Ukrainian military. He noted that the initiative is already in effect and has significantly improved the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front line.
"This initiative is already in action - the first 50,000 shells are already in Ukraine. Some of them are already on the front lines, destroying Russian occupiers. We have good prospects and hope for joint ammunition production projects in the future," Shmyhal said.
Czech initiative for ammunition for Ukraine
In February this year, at the Munich Security Conference, Czech President Petr Pavel stated that his country had found hundreds of thousands of shells for Ukraine, but the project needed funding. Countries such as Portugal, Finland, Germany, and Lithuania joined the initiative.
At the end of June, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala reported that the first batch had already arrived in Ukraine. Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová specified that it was 50,000 units of ammunition, and the goal is to supply 500,000 units this year as part of the initiative.
Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the shells from Czechia were already strengthening the Ukrainian military on the battlefield. Thanks to this, the difference in the number of shots between the Russian and Ukrainian forces has been reduced by more than half.
