Cape Verde has become the first African country to confirm its participation in the peace summit in Switzerland, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President said that he held talks with Cape Verdean Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva.

"I thanked him for his support for the peace formula and his principled position regarding Russian aggression. Cape Verde has become the first African country to confirm its participation in the peace summit,” Zelenskyy added.

He noted that he discussed with the Prime Minister efforts to attract as many African countries as possible to the peace summit.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Africa's voice is important when it comes to global support for a just peace in Ukraine.

In recent days, leaders of Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, and Finland have confirmed their participation in the peace summit.

Additionally, participation was previously announced by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

During the summit, Kyiv has planned to discuss three main topics, one of which is the release of prisoners.
