The first peace summit on Ukraine will take place on June 15-16. Kyiv has already planned discussions on a number of topics outlined in the peace formula.

The following sources were used in the preparation: a statement by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and publications of the press service of the Presidential Office.

The summit will be on the peace formula

The main subject of discussion at the first and subsequent peace summits will be the peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The peace formula reflects a scenario for ending the war with Russia based on the United Nations Charter and international law. It consists of 10 points:

  • Radiation and nuclear safety.
  • Food security.
  • Energy security.
  • Release of all prisoners and deportees (including abducted children).
  • Implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of territorial integrity and world order.
  • Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities.
  • Return of justice.
  • Counteracting ecocide.
  • Preventing escalation.
  • Fixing the end of the war.

Meetings on the peace formula have already been held at the level of advisors to the heads of state, five in total. Now, Ukraine wants to hold a summit at the level of leaders, where the achieved results will be recorded.

Main topics of the first summit

Recently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the first peace summit would focus on three issues:

  • Energy and nuclear security.
  • Free navigation.
  • Exchange of prisoners.

The latter issue will be divided into two sub-issues: the exchange of prisoners all for all and the return of Ukrainian children who were deported to Russia.

If there is no disagreement among the participating leaders, it is expected that the states responsible for each issue will be identified.

Peace summit

Ukraine planned to hold its first peace summit last fall. It didn't happen. Kyiv held meetings at the level of advisors to the heads of state.

The final date of the event was announced only recently. The summit will be held in Switzerland.
