Fire erupts at Bilotserkivska TPP in Ukraine: Two dead victims reported

A fire broke out at the thermal power plant in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. Rescuers and emergency services are currently working at the scene. There are casualties due to the accident, according to the press service of the Bila Tserkva City Territorial Community and the exclusive comment of the State Emergency Service to RBC-Ukraine.
On Tuesday, May 21, a fire occurred on the territory of the Bilotserkivska thermal power plant (TPP).
According to the press service of the city territorial community, the report of the fire was received at 12:46 p.m. Kyiv time.
The fire broke out at one of the plant facilities. Rescuers and all necessary services are currently working at the scene.
Consequences of accident
Later, the Spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, Viktoria Ruban, revealed the consequences of the fire at the Bilotserkivska TPP.
"The fire broke out on the territory of a non-operational cooling tower. At the moment, the fire has been extinguished over an area of 960 square meters. Seven units of equipment and 32 rescuers worked to put it out," Ruban said in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, two people died as a result of the fire at the Bilotserkivska TPP.
The press service of the State Emergency Service also added that the circumstances of the deaths and the cause of the fire are being established.
Fire at thermal power plant
Today, May 21, a fire was reported on the territory of the Bilotserkivska TPP.
Local media reported that the thermal power plant allegedly caught fire during repair work. Posts on social media also mentioned two dead victims due to the fire.
Earlier, on the night of February 16, Russian troops attacked Mykolaiv with drones. Strikes hit several locations, including the city's central district.
In particular, enemy UAVs struck the Mykolaiv TPP, leaving a large part of the city without centralized heating. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported, about 100,000 consumers in Mykolaiv were left without heat.
