Finland will deploy its drone defense unit to Denmark, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced.

"Finland stands fully behind Denmark in its efforts to secure the airspace and counter the hybrid activities of the kind we have seen in the last days and weeks. To make this support concrete, Finland has today decided to deploy a Counter-UAS contingent to Denmark," Stubb said.

According to him, the Finnish Border Guard will also provide support with its own resources.

Stubb noted that such actions by Finland are "an excellent example of the type of concrete Nordic cooperation we need today."

"Going forward, we'll keep aligning our approaches to countering hybrid threats and pushing the capability development in Europe," he added.

Drones over NATO countries

On the night of September 10, about 20 Russian drones crossed Polish airspace, most of them launched from Belarus. Four drones were shot down, and later, on September 12, Polish authorities clarified that the attack involved a total of 21 drones.

Romania's Ministry of Defense reported that F-16 fighter jets detected a drone in the country's national airspace and escorted it for about 20 km near a border village before the object disappeared from radar.

Between September 23 and 25, airports in Denmark were temporarily closed due to the detection of drones in the country's airspace. The identity of those responsible remains unknown, and Danish police are conducting an investigation.

Norway also closed the airspace over Oslo Airport after unidentified drones were spotted, forcing flights to be rerouted to other airports.

Additionally, unidentified drones were spotted in Germany over the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, prompting local police to enhance security measures.
